GANON FLORIST × HIKOBAYU original aroma
At Hikobayu, we accept requests to create original aromas based on the essential oils of Japanese Sakhalin fir extracted in-house.
This time, I created three scents for GANON FLORIST's flower gifts.

Linking forests and people Humans have lived with forests for a long time. That's why the "memories of the forest" are engraved in our genes. By touching HIKOBAYU's forest-scented products, we hope you will be reminded of your connection with nature, feel reassured, and be soothed. And sometimes, listen to the rhythm of life in the forest and feel your own unique and wonderful existence. We believe that by respecting the ecosystem and nurturing the forest, and pursuing sustainable raw materials, we can create a cycle that will connect to the future for decades and centuries to come. Why do we add scent to our products?
"Flowers have their own scent, so why add aromatherapy?" Some flower lovers may have this question.
We are not a florist that just sells flowers. What we deliver to our customers is a "space" filled with flowers.
The flowers exist there. And there is a space to accommodate the flowers. In that space, your thoughts, your life story, your time, and your imagination are all present.
All of this is enriched by the symbolism of flowers.

We also visited the GANON main store in Higashi-ku, Sapporo.
The facility is a reused stone warehouse made from Sapporo soft stone, a famous stone that supported the development of Sapporo.
Sapporo soft stone, which once supported the development of Sapporo, is now a valuable building material and was designated a Hokkaido Heritage Site in 2018 .

Initiatives toward SDGs
As part of their efforts towards the SDGs , they are involved in a wide range of activities, including the Lost Flower Rescue Project, FORESTRY , GANON Jewelry , and HANANINGEN .
They are doing wonderful things, such as reducing flower waste, a major issue for florists (flower waste is generally around 30 %, but at GANON FLORIST , with FORESTRY and HANANINGEN , they have been able to reduce it to just 3 %!), and creating a system that allows customers to contribute to reforestation by receiving regular deliveries of flowers. These activities have been introduced as examples of initiatives by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' " JAPAN SDGs Action Platform " since March 2021 .
The spacious store also includes an art shelter and a flower space at the back.
"There are no florists in war zones."
GANON tells us that a society where people can give flowers to loved ones, decorate with flowers on ordinary days, and have the mental space to appreciate the beauty of flowers blooming by the roadside is the kind society that we want to leave behind for our children of the future.
